Luath Luath Luath

Luath at Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary

A Male Black Lurcher who is age 5

Not Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Cover all of Scotland and further afield if necessary

Luath (pronounced Loo-a and means fast in Scottish Gaelic) first came into SGS care in 2017 at the age of 16 months. Sadly, he has moved around a fair bit having been rehomed and returned several times. He is not an easy dog and will require a very experienced home to deal with his issues:

• Severe resource guarding which leads to biting.
• Reactivity to other dogs in the home, so he would need to be an only dog. (He can have canine friends outside for walks and playdates).
• Pulling on the lead.
• Getting excited and ragging the lead and jumping up at people.
• Separation anxiety.

The good news is that these issues have settled down after several months in his current foster home. However, he has displayed them each time he’s gone to a new home and they are very likely to show again when he moves.

Luath’s full history can be provided if you think you may be able to offer him a forever home. However, we will only accept applications from people who can demonstrate they have significant lurcher experience and are willing to work with Luath.

Chaos Chaos Chaos

Chaos at Scottish Greyhound Sanctuary

A Male Brindle Greyhound who is age 2

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Cover all of Scotland and further afield if necessary

This handsome lad is currently in kennels in Yorkshire with Michelle but we are doing a special appeal for him to find his perfect forever home as sadly he has a condition called retinal atrophy (https://vcahospitals.com/.../progressive-retinal-atrophy...).
This is a degenerative disease that will result in him going blind over a period of months or years. It is not known how quickly this will progress and there is no known cure. He can still live a full and happy life while this progresses, with the right family to guide him.
We are therefore looking for a very special family for him, who have the home set up required to help Chaos through the various stages. Experience of blind dogs may not be necessary but a willingness to do research, learn as they go and work with Chaos, with the full support of SGS, to ensure he can live as full a life as possible.
We want to get him into a home as soon as possible while he still has his sight to ensure he has time to adapt and get comfortable with his surroundings. We think another dog in the house would be an advantage for Chaos.
If anyone thinks they can offer Chaos a forever home please get in touch with us.
Michelle who is currently looking after him says this about him: He is lively and does like a off lead play in a secure garden. Clean in his kennel. Gets along better with girls.

A Male Black Greyhound who is age 5

Not Good With Children

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Cover all of Scotland and further afield if necessary

Jim is currently in foster in Moray and is looking for his forever home. He lives with two other hounds and would probably appreciate hound company in his new home as he doesn't like being left alone.
Like many ex-racers, he can be reactive to other breeds so needs an owner who is willing to manage this.
He loves his toys and will happily chomp on a squeaky toy until it no longer squeaks
We would not home him with children. If you are interested in rehoming a dog like Jim please visit our website for more information on our rehoming process.
