Meet Georgie: The Loving Giant with a Big Heart!

Age: 5 (as of January 2025) DOB: 05 Jan 2020
Weight: 35kg (He's not small, but with all that love, you won’t mind!)
Breed: Large white long-haired with a distinctive eye patch

Georgie is an affectionate, fun-loving dog with so much to offer. His playful spirit and loving nature make him a joy to have around—he’s always ready for a cuddle, a game, or a walk. Though he’s a larger dog, his heart is even bigger, and he thrives in environments where he feels safe and understood.
Likes:
1. Ball and Rope Play: Georgie is a big fan of chasing his ball and playing tug-of-war with his rope. He’s always ready to play and keep you entertained!
2. Walks: Whether it’s a brisk, long walk or a slow, sniff-filled stroll, Georgie is always up for an adventure. His love for walks is only matched by his enthusiasm for sniffing out all the scents along the way.
3. Enrichment Games: Georgie enjoys using his nose to find treats. His inquisitive nature makes these games a great way to keep him mentally stimulated.
4. Water: Georgie loves being in the water, although he’s not the most confident swimmer—he still enjoys splashing around!
5. Cuddles & Scratches: Georgie’s perfect day includes snuggling on the sofa and receiving a nice chest scratch. He’s a true cuddle bug who craves affection from the people he loves.

Dislikes:
1. Loud Noises: Georgie is not a fan of fireworks or loud sounds, and he can be wary of postmen, delivery drivers, and bin men.
2. Bath Time: While Georgie tolerates getting washed when he’s muddy, it’s not his favorite activity.

Temperament:
Georgie is an affectionate and loving dog, especially with the people he knows. He’s been through a period of reactivity (barking and lunging) in the past, mostly related to food intolerance, which has now been resolved after a switch to a hypoallergenic diet. As a result, Georgie is a much more relaxed dog, though he can still have occasional reactivity to unfamiliar dogs, particularly in stressful situations or when he feels uncomfortable.
He has a soft spot for other dogs and enjoys playing with those he knows well. Georgie has been attending daycare for a few years and has formed strong bonds with the other dogs there. H
He has recently shown some reactivity toward young children due to a change in the home environment. While he has never bitten or nipped anyone, we are looking for a child free home for Georgie.
Georgie is also known to be a sensitive character, and while he’s generally friendly, he does take a little extra time to warm up to strangers. But once he’s comfortable, he’s all about those extra cuddles!

Training:
Georgie has good lead walking skills and is a pro at staying close to you when out on walks, although he might pull a bit when searching for the perfect spot to do his business. His off-lead recall is a work in progress, especially in areas with lots of distractions like deer. He does get time in a secure dog field a couple of times a week to burn off energy.
He’s mastered basic commands like sit, stay, go to your place, and come in the house, though he can get a little distracted when the doorbell rings or delivery people show up. Training has helped him stay focused, and a halti has been used when needed to help him remain calm.
Georgie is not crate-trained, and his ideal home would be one where he can have the space he needs to feel comfortable.

Diet:
Georgie’s diet is important for his well-being, and he requires a hypoallergenic hydrolyzed diet to keep him healthy.

Ideal Home:
Georgie would thrive in a rural home, where he can enjoy plenty of space and quiet. He’d be happiest in a household without children, as he’s more comfortable with adults or older kids who can respect his need for space. He’d also do well in a home with other dogs, especially those with a temperament similar to his but another dog is not a requirement. Experience with dogs would be beneficial for Georgie’s adopter, as he can sometimes be sensitive to stress and would benefit from a calm and structured environment.

Fun Fact:
Georgie has a distinctive eye patch—a unique and charming feature that makes him even more special!
Georgie is an amazing dog looking for a loving, patient home where he can continue to grow and be the affectionate companion he’s meant to be. Could that home be yours?

Georgie is currently in Glasgow, Scotland. If you think you are the perfect home for Georgie please pop onto our website and complete an application form. A £500 adoption donation and a virtual home check will apply xxx www.savingandrehomingstrays.org

Milly is looking for an active owner who can continue her basic training and keep her company for most of the day. She may be able to live with older children and possibly another dog.
Milly is a bubbly, happy go lucky girl with an infectious personality. She loves attention from everyone and is very affectionate. Although a little shy in new situations to begin with, after a bit of reassurance she quickly comes out of her shell and her bouncy personality shines through. Milly can sometimes forget her size and be clumsy so would be best suited to a home with older children.
She has several doggy friends at the Home and she may like to live with a new doggy sibling who matches her energy pending a successful introduction. She is very energetic and will require daily long walks so would love an active owner who will take her on lots of exciting new adventures. Milly will require regular grooming so any new owner will need to be mindful of the extra time and financial costs it requires to keep her coat in top condition.
Milly has been doing some extra training with the Paws for Progress team in their rescue dog training programme at HMYOI Polmont. HMP & YOI Polmont | Paws for Progress
Milly has had some veterinary treatment whilst in our care. More information will be discussed with successful applicants.

A home with garden

Hamish is looking for an experienced & active owner who have dealt with nervous dogs before. He needs a quiet home with access to his own private garden so he can still enjoy the outdoors safely. Hamish needs to be the only pet in an adult only home and would like to be kept company all day.
Hamish is a nervous boy who is unsure of new people, particularly men, and takes time to make new friends. His new owners will need to be prepared to visit him several times to build a bond with him. He can be worried in busy environments, so he needs understanding owners who will build his confidence in quieter areas first. He needs an experienced and extremely committed owner who have the time to slowly build his confidence and understand that it will take time for him to feel safe and comfortable in his new home.
With those he knows, Hamish is very affectionate, loves a cuddle and thinks he is a lap dog at times! Hamish loves running along the beach and getting the sand in between his toes or running around the paddock chasing a tennis ball. He can make doggy friends if introduced properly but he isn’t keen on dogs coming into his space, so any friends he does make will need to respect his boundaries.

Breed: DSH
Sex: F
Age: 12years
Key information: Only pet in the home, Secure outdoor access

Toots is such a lovely lady looking for a nice quiet home to call her own.

Toots is sadly a suspected carrier of cat-flu and while this doesn’t really affect her day-to-day, it may be something that flares up in times of stress, as such she’s looking for a home as an only pet. Toots gave us all a fright here at the centre when she took quite ill and had to spend over a week at the vets, however she is such a little trooper and has come back fighting fit – you would never know!

Toots is quite a deep sleeper and we suspect she might be a little deaf so would be best suited to a home with a secure garden where she can safely venture outside (if she wants to leave the warmth!)

Despite everything she’s been through, Toots is such a happy girl who loves company and would cuddle up on your lap all day if she got the chance!

A very funny guy with a heart of gold.

This is the amazing Bronty! He is hilarious and he loves all the attention it gets him!

Bronty hasn't been with us long so we are still getting to know him but what we can say is he is a real joy to be around. He never fails to put a smile on everyone's face with his daft ways. This boy loves being out and about and enjoys a good zoomie! He is such a sweet boy who loves people but can be nervous of some men. He walks well on the lead, keeps his kennel clean and doesnt seem bothered about the other dogs passing him here at the centre.

We will update this as we get to know more about him.

History

Bronty came to us as a stray so we sadly have no information on his past.

Re-homing Criteria

Bronty is looking for a loving home who can take him on walks but also give him cuddles on the sofa. He would love a secure garden to zoom around in. Due to his breed and that we have no information on his history we will be looking for a cat free home and a home without young children.

A quiet home

Phoebe is looking for a quiet home with an experienced owner who have dealt with feisty cats before. She would like easy access outdoors once she has settled into her new home. Phoebe needs to be the only pet in an adult only household.
Phoebe is an independent girl who sometimes likes human attention but only on her terms. She is confident in her surroundings but due to a past experience, does have a sensitive side and can become easily spooked by certain noises, particularly high-pitched ones. She requires a very quiet home, ideally with only 1 or 2 adults who can provide her with the predictable and stable home she needs. She likes having a cosy bed to curl up in but would like easy access to a garden so she can go outside whenever she wants to. She would be best suited to a home out of the city where there is lots of space for her to enjoy roaming around.
Phoebe is playful at times, and she enjoys watching the world go by from the top of her climbing tower. Her love for food has allowed her to gain a few extra pounds in the past so her new owner will need to be mindful of this and keep her waistline trim.
Phoebe is a cat who knows what she likes, and she can be a bit of a grump if people don’t respect her boundaries but for a committed and understanding owner, she will make a lovely companion.

Mia is looking for an owner who have an understanding of dog body language. She would like access to her own private garden where she can spend time outside in safe space away from other dogs. She is looking to be the only pet but could live with dog savvy teenagers.
Mia is a confident girl who, despite her age, is still very much full of fun and life. She thoroughly enjoys her food and playing enrichment games but she does not always want to share what she sees as valuable so requires an understanding owner who will respect her boundaries. She is playful and likes running around with her toys in the paddock and she enjoys going along the beach to dip her paws in the water. In typical beagle style, she loves using her nose and sniffing out any and every interesting smell that she comes by so she may enjoy an activity such as scent work to help keep her stimulated. Mia can be wary in the vet or when anyone tries to touch her feet, so needs some understanding and patience to work through this. She can be independent at times but is partial to a bottom scratch when the mood takes her.
Due to a past experience, Mia is uncomfortable around other dogs so she needs a patient owner who understand that she would much rather enjoy her walks in quieter areas.
