History...   Archie has been surrendered by her owners

More about me...
Archie is a lovely, friendly and lively 4 year old girl. She is full of energy, but also loves nothing more than sofa cuddles.

She also loves a good walk, playing with her balls (she’s not fussy about shape or size), finding hidden treasures within her snuffle toys, she also loves a good snooze.

Archie walks well on lead, and responds well. She doesn’t get much off lead time due to her high prey drive and currently living in the countryside. Archie would suit an active family,

Archie can be left home alone for up to 2.5 hours, after this she becomes anxious but is not destructive, she can howl sporadically if left any longer.  Archie can find travelling in a car a little stressful and can become stressed if separated while travelling in the car, for example in the boot.

Archie mostly just wants to play with other dogs but can be very full on with her play, Archie has had sleepovers with dogs she knows with no issues. Archie could potentially be rehomed with another dog pending successful introductions.

History... Buster has came to SSR from the pound and is currently in a foster home.

More about me...

Buster is 5 years old and a lovely, friendly and happy boy. Please see an update below from his foster mum: He's a big lad, who loves his treats and will do anything for a bit of cheese. He is a huge fan of primula on his lick mat and can often be found pacing around because his Kong is under the sofa, again! His favourite thing is being close to his humans, and will often lie or sit at your feet.

Buster has come on lots since being in our foster home. He will wait for his meals and is getting better at waiting for his treats. He still won't sleep in his crate or on his bed, and seems to prefer the floor, although at night he sneaks onto the sofa.

We have tried several different types of collar with Buster as he still quite pulley on the lead, but he is getting better. He is really enjoying his time at the Run free Fields , and is good at playing fetch.

Buster has not been assessed with cats or dogs yet, but we are hoping to get this done soon.

Buster has been left for a few hours and is not destructive at all in the house. He is toilet trained and has had no accidents in the house since his first week.

He is a very friendly dog and is very people orientated, and will offer stop so that all the humans can give him a pet when he is out on a walk.

History... Milo is being returned to SSR through no fault of his own, unfortunately Milo's owner isn't well enough to look after him.

Milo is a really friendly and lovely boy, who is well behaved and very lovable. Milo loves his home comforts and going a walk, especially on a longer lead so he can explore and walks well on the lead. Milo is crate trained (although hasn't used one for a while) and can be left for a few hours in the house and is non destructive. Milo has pancreatitis but this is managed through a low fat diet, if it does flare up he is treated with steroids. Milo isn't a fan of other dogs after being attacked, but this is managed well on walks by keeping him close and reassuring him.

Milo Loves:
- Humans and especially loves getting his belly rubs and back scratched, he loves when visitors come to visit and his tail doesn't stop wagging!
- Loves his toys (especially squeaky ones) and sitting at the window watching the world go by, even better when its sunny and he can sunbathe.
- Loves the snow!

Milo Dislikes:
- Rain, will avoid going out! (which staffie does!)
- Not a huge fan of the vets, so he is given calming tablets before going.
- Fireworks, so he is given calming tablets, jumper and loads of cuddles!

Type of home needed …

History... Picked up as a stray by the dog wardens and taken to a council pound, She had cherry eyes, bent legs and she was emaciated.

More about me...
I am a young shy sweet girl. I have just arrived at my foster home, today i went to see the vets. I have sore eyes which they are going to operate on in a few weeks as my eyes are infected so need to get this cleared up 1st. Also, my front legs as a bit bent, the vets think this would sort itself out with good food and exercise, but they are going to keep an eye on me with this.

July 2023
Jaz is still in kennel's. The volunteers love her as once your in her circle of trust your hers. Jaz will be going into Rehab soon where she will be integrated with other dogs and people.

Feb  2023
Sadly Jaz is now in kennels as she was pushing the boundaries in her foster home. This wee girl is so stressed in kennels her skin is bad again so we will not be rehoming her. Jaz needs to destress and trust again. poor girl we all feel for her but she will get there with help.

Update Oct 2022
Jasmine has come on great in her foster home, her eyes are great now and her legs have straightened out by themselves.  She is happy, happy, happy.
The only issue we have with her is around strangers, she is ok with some and not with others, especially around her home.
We are working on this issue with her.

Type of home needed …
The only dog in the home and no other pets.
Bullbreed experience home
No kids
Prefers females humans to males

Jasmine is a young dog who was very badly abused before she came to us and does have some issues, She needs a confident owner who has bull breed experience and who will put boundaries in place and continue with Jasmines training programme. The person must be willing to come to kennels and meet her a few times previous to taking her home. Once Jasmine gets to know you she is such a loving girl and bonds quickly to her people. Jasmine prefers females to males. Jasmine has previously lived with an older male dog but can be unpredictable around other dogs

Kids - unassessed
Cats - unassessed

History... I was found with another dog abandoned / tied up to a fence in the street.

More about me... Olivia has just arrived with us after seeing her appeal on FB. Her world has fell apart after being dumped/ abandoned by her previous scum of an owner.

Olivia does have a problem with her left eye and we think she could be blind in it as you can see from her photos, its very cloudy looking. This doesn't stop her loving her people and her walks.

So far she has been a really lovely girl, we can touch her all over,  she walks very well on the lead, she loves to take her time and sniff every bit of grass, She takes treats really gently but is unsure what to do with toys. shes a really sooky girl and wants to be near us when walking she doesn't wander to far. Hopefully in time she will realise shes safe now and start to enjoy her life to the fullest.

Type of home needed …
Bullbreed experienced home
No kids
No other dogs
A garden would be an added plus

Olivia needs time to decompress and relax with somebody who will give her the time and patience she needs.

Dogs - He tested well in the pound, but we would like to assess this ourselves
Kids - 12+
Cats - No

History... Dobby was found as a stray and no one claimed him, he served his 7 days as a pound dog (and a load more), we were able to offer him a rescue space and he came and started his new life in Scotland.

More about me...

Dobby was found, assumed dumped, underweight and scared.
He's a sweet boy who can be a little nervous initially, but is soon your friend (especially if you have treats)
We can only assume he hasn't had the greatest start to life.
He needs a foster or forever home to help him realise nothing bad is going to happen to him.
He tested well with other dogs in the pound, but we would like to assess this ourselves.
He will sit for treats, but will need to learn other commands and lead manners.

Dogs - No,  he is dog reactive
Kids - Teens +
Cats - No

History -
King is a beautiful love bug, He loves his humans, all the volunteers that have met him have all fallen for his sweet charms. King walks well on a lead, takes treats gently and loves his food. He is muzzle trained and wears this when out on all his walks.

Sadly King has really sore eyes he has double entropion which will need surgery. King is under our vets now and is having ongoing treatment for this just now, SSR will pay for his surgery.

UPDATE March 2023
King is currently in a foster home and doing really well. He has had the surgery to fix his eye lids and he is doing well.  King will be under our vets for a few more weeks while his wounds heal

Update May 2023
Kings been in foster with us since January 2023 - yes only four months in that time he has settled well then boom big eye surgery which was horrendous for him , then to find out he had no balls, despite all that he is doing remarkably well . He’s the biggest funny goofball and gentleman you could meet . King has his quirks and we’re finding out his ever changing personality as he’s coming out his shell . His training in terms of commands is coming on responds to positive affirmation but can become unfocused.

King is a very strong boy and can pull on his lead generally telling him to wait then walk again he’s really good . Out and about King wears a muzzle he’s really good at putting it on. He can be a bit barky when out more so with people with hats and hoodies on though think he can’t see properly. He’s met people while out that he likes they stop and talk to him like a baby he loves it can get over excited but tell him to sit he gets claps. He’s very observant loves a good sniff and roaming through the trees. His walks are normally good but his dog reactivity he will pull and is really strong we deal with this a few ways divert, wait till they pass and calmly reassure him also gets to smell his chicken then once home he gets his treat a cuddle and told he’s a fabulous boy .

Dislikes : his own dinner as he’s spoiled with his yummy treats but eats it eventually .
Scrabbled egg is not for him .
Loud bangs can get scared .
Big sticks scare him..
He can be unsure of people when first meets them, more men though especially if they are loud with manly voice. So slow calm meeting's and let him come to you, he then becomes best pals with you. He has been through a lot, he needs his confidence built up.
He is cheeky and does get into trouble sometimes.

Likes : Oooft were to start , loves his walks, secure dog run (we can take his muzzle off) so he  can be muzzle free and run about .
Toys loves them all from a ball to his kong fulled with his favourite treats chicken, coconut oil, pate smooth though, chop pork and every now and then squeezey cheese.
❤️He likes games, playing with you he forgets he’s a big boy so wee reminder he’s not a Yorky works lol.
❤️He loves belly rubs which only recently he initiated himself.
❤️He loves zooming about flying through the air to get you.
❤️He watches tv which is hilarious and loves a snuggle up.
❤️He lovvvvvvves his humans ❤️

Type of home needed -
Bullbreed experienced home
An owner that has had a dog reactive dog before and is used to a dog wearing a muzzle.
Secure Fenced Garden
He loves his walks. He would benefit from a quite area with lots of semi rural walks.
He is still very puppyish and goofy.
Behavioural support will be available

This is the condition King had -

What is entropion? Entropion is a condition that causes the eyelids to roll inwards and rub the front of the eye. It tends to affect both eyes, and although it’s more common in the lower eyelids, can affect both upper and lower lids. Left untreated, entropion can cause severe pain, inflammation, eye ulcers, infections, scarring and even loss of an eye.
