Rocky was an owner surrender, he had lived a very sheltered life/was overweight and had allergies. Rocky was adopted but returned to SSR after struggling to settle in the home, it was to busy for him.
Rocky is currently in foster in Midlothian, any potential home for Rocky would need to be committed to meeting Rocky over a period of time so he can get to know you.
Rocky is such a friendly and happy boy, once you get to know him and he trusts you. Rocky has had a hard life and not much exposure, he can become overexcited and struggle to settle. In the foster home Rocky has his own bedroom were he can take himself off to and relax in his safe space, over time Rocky is settling and now loves snuggling up with you and watching a film.
Rocky loves to play with his rope toys and has started to play with his ball in the secure field, he loves sunbathing in the garden and will happily chill all day outside if he could. Rocky loves natural chews/kongs and lick mats. Rocky's favourite walk is to the beach he loves running in the sea and gets the zoomies.
Rocky is a quiet boy and is anxious/nervous, but is slowly coming out his shell. Rocky can be unsure about touch especially around his feet, we can get a paw but we are unable to touch his paws ect, but once he trusts you he loves a belly rub!
Rocky can be left in the house on his own for a period of time and is non destructive. Rocky is dog friendly and has lived with dogs, but high energy/playful dogs he does struggle with and becomes overwhelmed, he happily coexists with calm dogs, but at the moment we feel with Rocky's life being unsettled he would be better suited to a pet free home.
Rocky will need a quiet home with rare visitors, he struggles to cope with visitors - we are working on this with him at the moment and why he has a safe space to relax in, he can become jumpy/mouthy. Rocky can have the same response with putting jackets on/phone calls he can become overexcited, he picks up training well and this is improving, but any home would manage this with our support
Rocky is in good health and had a full check up recently, he is neutered and vaccinated. Rocky is nervous of the vets and being touched, so is given calming meds and is muzzled trained for the vets.
Rocky suffers from environmental allergies and if not managed can get cysts on his feet, we currently have this under control and they have been been treated by the vet, he currently takes aqupoel for his allergies.
Rocky really enjoys his walks, he loves being out and we are building up his walks, at the moment we do 3x 20 minute walks a day to the park/woodlands/around the block. Rocky can pull when heading back to the car/home as its his safe space, but walks well on his harness when out. In larger/quiet areas he enjoys his walks on a long lead, he loves a good sniff and is engaged with you on walks.
Rocky walks past dogs at a distance easily but in close proximity he will sometimes pull/jump/bark, as desperate to see the other dog so are working on him being neutral around dogs whilst out.
Rocky is starting to enjoy secure fields, he will play with his ball and zoom about.
Rocky travels well in the car, he currently sits in the back or boot. He can be excited when first gets in the car and will sing to you but soon calms down and will lie down, he does become excited again when you pull into your destination.
Rocky gravitates more to men and would suit a single male home.
A secure garden.
Bullbreed experience.
Experience with anxious/nervous dogs

Bella came to SSR from the pound.
Bella is currently in our kennels in Scottish Borders.
Bella is such a sweet and friendly girl, we don't think Bella has had much of a life before coming to us, instead she has been used for breeding. Bella was pretty stressed and aloof when she first arrived, but she now loves company and gets excited to see us.
Bella loves any toys, nylabones, kongs ect - she does love to destroy toys! She is happiest in her outdoor space with some company and her toys.
Bella is clean in her kennel and we are working on her basic commands, any home will need to commit to Bella's training.
Bella tested dog friendly in the pound and was neutral around dogs, our inital assessments of Bella around dogs she has been quiet stressed, hopefully this will calm down the more she decompresses, Bella's new home may need to do further work around dogs with her, with our support.
Bella had a full check up at our vets and is in good health, except for being unfit. Bella will be spayed, vaccinated and chipped.
Bella is enjoying her walks, although she is very unfit. Bella is currently walking around the field on her long lie and enjoying a good sniff, she also loves going to the secure field for some freedom and to play with toys.
Bella travels well and enjoys going in the car.
Secure garden required.
Somebody at home.
Bull breed experience.

Layla is an owner surrender, due to a change in circumstances.
Layla is currently with her owner.
Layla is such a sweetheart, she is such a friendly and gentle girl.
Layla will initially bark when she first meets new people, but soon calms down. She can be wary of men to begin with, but soon trusts them.
Layla currently lives with a cat and doesn't take any interest in the cat, she regularly goes out with her dog friends, she is excited to meet dogs but will soon calm down and is happy to play.
Layla is non-destructive and has free roam of the house, she can be left on her own for a few hours happily, but is also cate trained.
Layla is such a happy girl and needs a stable home.
Layla is in good health and will be vaccinated, chipped and spayed.
Layla loves her walks, she is currently walked on a halti and walks well.

We were made aware of King being in a council pound. He looked so sad and had the sorest eyes we had ever seen, so we made the decision to help him and bring him to SSR.
King is currently in kennels. King is attending weekly classes after doing two weeks residential after Christmas. King's weekly classes are working around other dogs and progressing his training, any new home for King would need to commit to further training with our support.
King is the most goofiest and friendliest boy, he loves his humans! He loves belly rubs and a good scratch. King is a massive foodie, he is always looking for a biscuit, which helps with his training! King knows all his basic commands and is very engaged with you. King doesn't show much interest in toys in kennels, but during kennel breaks he loves playing especially a squeaky pig! In the kennels he enjoys chews, kongs and snuffle mats. King also has a crate in his kennels with his bed and blankets, which he loves and happily takes himself in there.
Whilst on kennel breaks King has always been clean in the house, he looves snoozing on the couch with you to and getting belly rubs. King has been in kennels for a long time so would somebody being around and building up his time left, as we are not sure what he will be like being left.
King is in good heath, when he came to SSR he had really sore eyes - he had double entropion which needed surgery. King had this surgery back in 2023 and has recovered really well, King will need no further surgeries.
King walks well on his lead, although is a strong boy. King isn't a dog who is ever going to walk miles, he is lazy! He enjoys his walks and loves going to secure fields, he always zooms about and enjoys a good sniff! King is dog reactive and although we are working on this, King would suit quieter areas to walk with an experinced handler. King also does not walk in the rain, as soon as the rain comes he his heading back to his kennel! typical staffie!
King is great in the car, he sometimes needs a little encouragement to get in but he is not bother in the car. King is quiet in the car and mostly takes it as an opportunity for a snooze, he usually wears a seatbelt in the back.

Jaz came to SSR from the pound, Jaz was in a terrible state - severely malnourished, bowed legs, cherry eye ect. Jaz has spent most of her life in kennels.
Jaz is currently in a foster home with one of our committee members, any potential home would need to meet Jaz numerous times in her foster home (about 40 minutes from Edinburgh).
We are looking for a forever foster home for Jaz, this means we will pay for any medical needs and behaviourist support for Jaz.
Jaz will require a very special home who will be patient and take there time with her. Jaz is wary of strangers and any potential home would need to meet Jaz numerous times to build up a bond with her. Jaz has missed the crucial puppy stage learning and really does try to get things right and please us yet her urges often get the better of her. When over aroused, Jaz will nip and mouth quite hard Jaz's foster home are working on redirection and impulse control, but this will need to continue in any home, Jaz will regress when she moves.
Jaz will need a quiet home with not many visitors, stair gates ect would need to be used, due to Jaz's wariness of strangers. Jaz is currently living with 2 dogs, but is kept separate in the house with stair gates. Jaz goes on walks with them and she doesn't seem phased by them but Jaz can become jealous and really bonds with people, so would be best suited to a pet free home. A pet free home would best suit Jaz so all the attention is on her and she can learn to settle without other distractions.
Jaz is very playful and is 100 miles an hour, she loves playing with toys (she goes through many toys!). Jaz will need a home who will provide mental and physical stimulation for her, but also showing her when to be calm and when to rest, this is being worked on in the home and she is starting to take herself away for a rest. Jaz is mischievous and likes to steal shoes/slippers/bedding ect and will destroy them, so will need a home who isn't precious but also work with her on redirecting that. Jaz has been left for a few hours and has been good, she has settled down in the kitchen and will have a sleep, play with her toys and eat her chew, when left for a period of time she does become hyper on your return. Jaz will suit somebody that is home a lot.
Jaz is essentially an overgrown puppy, but with a heart of gold, she is so funny and always makes us laugh. Once she trusts you she is so loving and happy. Jaz loves the garden and will spend all day out there if she can, she loves being outside sunbathing and playing with her toys.
We know there is a special home out there for Jaz who will commit to her and were she will truly blossom.
Jaz is in good health, she does have bowed legs due to malnourishment as a puppy, but this doesn't cause Jaz any issues.
Jaz loves her walks, she loves being out and is currently in a quiet area were she can be on a long lead on the fields. If Jaz becomes over stimulated on a walk she can mouth/jump up/rag lead. This is being worked on, we are seeing a huge difference in her, Jaz has also been accepting her harness on without much fuss.
Jaz is fine travelling.
Secure garden.
Experienced dog owner.
Time and patience, who will work with Jaz and set firm boundaries.
Quiet area with visitors being rare.
Pet free home.

History... unfortunately Lucy's owner is no longer able to look after her.
Hi, my name is Lucy and I am about 7 years old, I love going for walks and I am very people friendly, but I can be a bit temperamental as far as other animals are concerned, so I don't want to share my home with other 4 legged friends.
I am well behaved girl who loves treats even more, I love my food and always clear my bowl.
I can be left in the house on my own and I don't destroy anything. I love snuggling up more than anything, I am big sook and also love play time.
Lucy is your typical happy go lucky & friendly staffie, she will make such a great companion 🤍

History... Buster has came to SSR from the pound and is currently in a foster home.
More about me...
Buster is 5 years old and a lovely, friendly and happy boy. Please see an update below from his foster mum: He's a big lad, who loves his treats and will do anything for a bit of cheese. He is a huge fan of primula on his lick mat and can often be found pacing around because his Kong is under the sofa, again! His favourite thing is being close to his humans, and will often lie or sit at your feet.
Buster has come on lots since being in our foster home. He will wait for his meals and is getting better at waiting for his treats. He still won't sleep in his crate or on his bed, and seems to prefer the floor, although at night he sneaks onto the sofa.
We have tried several different types of collar with Buster as he still quite pulley on the lead, but he is getting better. He is really enjoying his time at the Run free Fields , and is good at playing fetch.
Buster has not been assessed with cats or dogs yet, but we are hoping to get this done soon.
Buster has been left for a few hours and is not destructive at all in the house. He is toilet trained and has had no accidents in the house since his first week.
He is a very friendly dog and is very people orientated, and will offer stop so that all the humans can give him a pet when he is out on a walk.
