We are looking for a foster home for Hardy with the view to adopt.
Hardy's fosterers must be local to Dumfries as he will need to see our vet regularly, probably monthly.
Hardy came to us as stray and we very quickly realised that things weren't quite right. He had problems with one of his back legs, an extreme case of stiffness in his stifle on his left back leg which was operated on successfully 5 weeks ago, and needs another months cage rest. He is in no pain, and our vet is very happy with his progress, although recommends lead walks only at the moment, and no off lead exercise.
Given his age, he will need the same as any other puppy, sosialisation, training, love and care, but exercise will need to be limited, and no off lead exercise until the vet gives him the all clear.
A steady dog at home will be fine, and infact be good for his learning. He is young enough to learn to live with cats, no children under 10 yrs due to the nature of his situation, a secure garden to help with house training, and someone who is home a lot of the time.
All food and medical costs will be covered by the charity while he is being fostered.
Given everything Hardy has been through already in his short life, he doesnt bear a grudge, infact quite the opposite. He loves to spend time with you, happy to go for a walk and loves a cuddle. We need to find a home where they will show Hardy what he's been missing. Could that be you? He's got his paws crossed.

We are looking for a foster home for little Laurel with the view to adopt in the future.
Laurels fosterers must be local to Dumfries as he will need to see our vet regularly, probably monthly.
He came to us as stray and we very quickly realised that things weren't quite right. He has problems with his back legs (slipping patella's in both back legs). This is being monitored at the moment but may need surgery in the future.
Given his age, he will need the same as any other puppy, sosialisation, training, love and care, the only difference to your average puppy is his exercise may need to be limited.
A steady dog at home will be fine, and infact good for his learning, he is young enough to learn to live with cats, no children under 10 yrs due to the nature of their situation, a secure garden to help with house training, and someone who is home a lot of the time.
All food and medical costs will be covered by the charity while he is being fostered.
Laurel is the happiest, friendliest little chap, and loves nothing than to spend time with you getting a cuddle. He is in no pain, and apart from the limited exercise he is a typical spaniel puppy, into everything! Could you be the one to turn round this fella's rough start?

A bouncy happy girl.
This girl has loads of energy and a real zest for life. She loves nothing more than a fuss and lots of attention.
Minnie is and active girl and is looking for someone who can match her energy. She has mixed well with another male dog here at the centre but we are unsure how she would react to cats. As she came to us as a stray we are unsure if she has any experience with children but due to her high energy we will be looking for famailies with older children, if any at all.
History
Minnie came to us as an unclaimed stray.
Re-homing Criteria
We are looking for an active home with a secure garden. She could live with another dog but we are unsure how she would react to cats. Minnie gets quite 'mouthy' when she gets excited, so a home with no children or children of 10yrs plus would be a must. Minnie is a real pocket rocket, and would need more than round the block a couple if times a day, she really does enjoy her exercise.

Lovely lad with lots of love to give!
Little Pocus is a real sweetheart. He loves a fuss and has adored everyone he has met here so far. He has mixed well with other young dogs since being here and is a firm favourite with the volunteers. He loves a walk and will be looking for an active home. Pocus is just young so he will need a patient owner who can support him though all his basic training.
History
Little Pocus came to us as a stray so we don't have any information on his history.
Re-homing Criteria
Pocus is an young active guy so is looking for a home to match his puppy energy. We would be looking for a home with a secure garden so he has a safe space to work on his housetraining and off lead training. He would happily live with another dog(s) and with careful introductions he could live with a resident cat(s) . Due to his zest for life and still young bouncy nature we would ideally be looking for a home with children over the age of 8 years who are used to a energetic dog. Someone who is at home most of the time is a must due to his age and the training that he will require at this young age. Pocus is a completely blank canvas so someone who understands the need for training to assist his learning and to allow him to reach his full potential.
A family who has the time and the excitement for training is perfect for this young boy ! Could you be the ones he is looking for ?

Poppy is looking for an active home who can give her all the attention she deserves.
Little Poppy is a happy girl with bags of energy and lots of love to give. She enjoys the company of other dogs here at the centre and has previously lived with cats. Poppy is an active girl who is looking for a home with plenty of company and adventures to be had. She is housetrained and is very sociable with people. She has loved everyone she has met here and is becoming a firm favourite with the volunteers.
History
Poppy is looking for a fresh start due to her previous owners feeling like they could no longer give her the life she deserves.
Re-homing Criteria
Poppy is looking for an active home with a secure garden. She has never lived with children but due to her good nature we believe she could be happy around children of 8 years and above. As previously mentioned, Poppy will be happy to live with another dog(s) and cat(s). Given her breed, whoever is lucky enough to adopt her must understand her grooming needs. Cocker spaniels crossed with poodles need regular brushing and clipping. The clipping should be done every 8-10wks and will cost in the region of £40-£60. Very friendly, sweet boy looking for a second chance.
Introducing Frank!
Frank is a happy go lucky kind of guy. He hasn't been with us long so we will update this as we get to know him but so far we have found him to be a lovable goofball. He enjoys running around our paddock with a female dog we have here on site and has loved all the staff and volunteers he has met so far.
He can be a little strong on the lead so this definatly needs some work. Due to his size, strength and our lack of history on him we will be looking for a home without children and cats.
History
This poor lad came to us as a stray and was never claimed.
Re-homing Criteria
Our fabulous Frank is looking for an active family who have the time to give him all the attention he deserves. We would be looking for a family who loves to be out and about , he can be quite strong on the lead so we would need someone who is willing to carry on his basic training. Frank is the most loveable lad , but due to our lack of knowledge of his previous life we would not consider homes with children under the age of 12 years. We also have no background on how he would be with a cat in the home, so again we would look for him to be rehomed where there are no cats. With careful introductions at the centre we can see Frank living with a well established female in the home. Frank will need a fully secure garden with fencing of at least 6 foot so he does have a safe and secure space to play in his own space !
Frank is a gentle giant who has not had the best start in life. He has come on leaps and bounds in the short time he has been with us, and has shown his cuddly side to anyone who wants some love.
Could you be the one to be Frank's happy ever after !

History
This handsome boy was one of a litter of 13 who was born here at the centre last year. Unfortunately he is now back with us looking for an active family who would love to welcome this handsome lad into their home.
Re-homing Criteria
Reggie loves to be out and about . We need a family that are willing to carry on with his training he is such a clever lad and wants to please. We would be looking for families with children over the age of 12 , due to his training needs. Reggie would love to live with another dog, we do not know what he would be like with cats but we do know he is great around horses ! Reggie is a breed that has energy to burn , we can see him loving the outdoor lifestyle .. camping, hiking, milling around the stable yard and joining you on countryside hacks, he is not an urban dog and will never really enjoy that lifestyle. A true gentleman.
This handsome chap is a real gent. He has previously shared his kennel with another female lurcher who he was happy with, he could be rehomed with a existing female dog with gentle introductions at the centre. Due to us having no information on his history we are unsure if he would live with cats and we don't know if he has any experience with children.
Kenny walks perfectly on the lead and just adores people.
History
Kenny was an unclaimed stray.
Re-homing Criteria
Kenny is looking for a loving home where he can get all the attention he deserves, he could possibly share with another well established female dog in the home, with careful introductions at the centre. He unfortunately is not keen on the male dogs he meets. We do not think Kenny could live with a cat, and we would be looking for homes with children over the age of 12yrs. This lad is just a big daft goof ball who has lots of energy , we would be looking for a home that has a fully secure garden so he can burn some of energy off safely! Kenny is not a normal couch potato lurcher , he is always on the look out for adventure and fun ! He is so clever he needs someone who can keep his mind busy as well as giving him lots of adventures out and about ! Kenny would need more than just a potter around .We have started muzzle training him at the centre and he has picked that up so quick , he is such a clever cookie and just wants to please!
Kenny is so handsome , unfortunately he can be quite camera shy so his profile pictures do not do him justice at all!

Torro is looking for a second chance.
This gorgeous boy really needs someone who can help him out.
Torro needs an adopter who understands the importance of keeping his brain busy. He doesn't get on well with other dogs but since being here is showing small steps of progress so with the right person we believe he could make a fantastic companion. He is very clever and enjoys activities like agility and long walks. Although not good with other dogs, this guy is very affectionate and playful with all his human friends. Since being with us he has taken really well to his muzzle training and keeps his kennel clean which would suggest he has been house trained in the past.
History

Our gorgeous Charlotte
This girl came to us back in July 2023 as one of the famous Moffat strays.
Charlotte can be a little shy when meeting new people but she really doesn't take long to come out of her shell once she feels comfortable around you. She is a bouncy, happy girl with energy for days and loves nothing more than hanging out with her human friends and running around the paddock with her fellow Moffat dogs.
A lot of work has gone into these dogs and now they have been given a second chance at life.
Due to Charlotte’s extremely under socialised background we will be looking for very specific homes, any applications received will be strongly vetted for suitability. Potential homes will need to have experience of under-socialised dogs, preferably large breeds, have a large fully enclosed garden with solid fencing of 6ft +.
Any potential homes will need to be extremely patient and understanding with their training going forward.
History
Charlotte came to us an an unclaimed stray.
Re-homing Criteria
Any potential adopters of these dogs must be prepared to regularly visit the centre multiple times a week to develop a bond , this is a must and non-negotiable, so please keep this in mind when applying especially if you are not local to the centre.
We believe these guys to have only lived in a multi dog, kennel situation with little social interaction from people. They would all benefit from a confident, well socialised, neutered dog in the household of the opposite sex. The improvement in these guys since being with us is nothing short of amazing in such a short time, but there is still a long road ahead and any adopters would need to be extremely patient and understanding going forward with their training, as it is unlikely they would ever be an average pet dog.
We will not be considering homes with children under 18yrs or cats.
A home where someone is around most of the time is important, and we are looking for very quiet homes and locations as they would not cope in a busy environment.
A totally secure garden is essential with solid fencing, not mesh or wire, of at least 6ft as they have all attempted to clear our 7ft fencing around the paddock area.
Each dog has their own separate needs and personality and we will be reading through all applications to see if any would match a specific dogs requirements. When completing the Home-finding Questionnaire, please give as much information as possible on your experience and circumstances. These dogs have come on leaps and bounds since coming to the centre, but any potential adopters will need to understand that leaving us will be a massive set back to their development , but this does need to happen so they can move forward. Adopters need to understand that it will be a long road moving forward, and will not be a easy task, but the reward when they are settled would be second to none!
If you feel you have the right experience, environment, time and patience to give one of our Moffat dogs a home please complete our Home-finding Questionnaire and we will be in touch if we feel you'd be a good match.

This girl came to us back in July 2023 as one of the famous Moffat strays.
Toffee can be a little shy when meeting new people but she really doesn't take long to come out of her shell once she feels comfortable around you. She is a bouncy, happy girl with energy for days and loves nothing more than hanging out with her human friends and running around the paddock with her fellow Moffat dogs.
A lot of work has gone into these dogs and now they have been given a second chance at life.
Due to Toffee's extremely under socialised background we will be looking for very specific homes, any applications received will be strongly vetted for suitability. Potential homes will need to have experience of under-socialised dogs, preferably large breeds, have a large fully enclosed garden with solid fencing of 6ft +.
Any potential homes will need to be extremely patient and understanding with their training going forward.
History
Toffee was an unclaimed stray.
