Gender: Female
Location: Sutton, Surrey
Beautiful Poppie is looking for a new home. Could you be her perfect family?
Poppie is nearly 4 years old, 35Kg and 55cm high to her shoulders. She is neutered and
vaccinated.
Poppie is the most lovely natured, friendly dog and has been settling well into living in a
house in suburbia, having been rescued from a forest in Romania.
Poppie is such a friendly dog and wants to meet everyone. When visitors come to the house
she is excited to greet them.
Poppie is very food motivated and has been very easy to train. She loves her training
sessions (these have been regular 1:1 sessions) and practicing what she has learnt, plus
any brain engaging fun games (done daily). Having treats really focuses and motivates her.
Poppie is a very intelligent dog with an active mind. She needs to be kept busy. This is why
we are ideally looking for the company of another dog in her new home, as she craves
canine company. Poppie is looking for a more active lifestyle
(involving dogs) than her current family can give her, with a good-sized garden to do her zoomies
in and fields to run and explore. A family would further enrich her life, as she loves people!
She is a very good dog in the house and soon respected any boundaries, for example not
going upstairs. She has only lived downstairs, is crate-trained and happily sleeps in it at night. She is working daily on the “settle” command and
making steady progress.
Poppie does love lounging on the sofa!
She loves a neck massage when she gets up in the morning, and she is becoming less
independent and more affectionate.
She sits for treats and loves mealtimes...she even
jumps around a bit like a kangaroo!
Child friendly: Poppie has not lived with any children but she is always keen to meet them
on her walks and is very gentle with them, especially when they want to come and stroke her
and say hello. Due to her size Poppie would only be rehomed with older children (over 12).
Cat friendly: Poppie has not lived with cats. Poppie has not chased any cats on her walks,
she usually just stares at them, and then moves on. She has not chased any squirrels in the
garden or when out. If a fox comes into the garden she will chase it away.
Lead trained: Poppie walks very nicely on the lead now and is working on her loose lead
skills. She needs a bit of guidance/managing when stopping to cross the road still.
Recall : Poppie has been working on her recall in training sessions and practises daily. She
has the long lead on in the enclosed area still, but it is loose on the ground. Her basic recall
is very good, but her recall off the lead in an open space is still a work in progress. She
knows her name and responds well when called in the house, garden, on lead walks (when
her attention is needed).
Poppie will make an amazing family dog for the right home that have the space and time to
continue her training and take her on fabulous adventures. We are looking for a family with a
spacious home and large secure garden for her to play – ideally with another dog to keep
her company.
Please note Poppies is currently in Sutton, Surrey but we can support with transport to
anywhere for the right home.
